4 Ways to Turn Your Wedding into a Time of Giving

May 20, 2012 by June

What better way can there be to bless your wedding day than to share your happiness with others? Here are some ways in which your wedding can touch the lives of people in need.

1. For those who have everything, and especially for second third weddings, ask your guests to donate to one (or several) of your favoirtie charities, or one of their own, in lieu of a gift. Direct them to justgive.org where you can register for the charity of your choice.

2. Arrange to have leftover food transported to a local homeless shelter.

3. The day after the wedding, have the flowers sent to a nursing home or women’s shelter.

4. Donate duplicate gifts to appropriate charities rather than return them.

Love in the Air… NO, not the mile high club!

The boarding pass read: ‘Radcliffe-to-Nechay’

Dianne Radcliffe-project coordinator, Seat Revenue Strategy, and Eduard Nechay-senior software test engineer, love airplanes so much, they decided to get married on one. The couple married April 7 onboard the Spirit of Delta Boeing 767 at the Delta Air Transport Heritage Museum, as family and friends, seated in first class as Diamond Elites, looked on.

“My husband, Eduard and I wanted a unique wedding venue and when researching different places I suggested we should keep it Delta-themed since we met at Delta and got engaged at the airport right before our Delta flight,” said Dianne.

Family and friends were sent ‘personalized’ boarding passes as a wedding invitation. In place of the designated city pair, the ticket read ‘Radcliffe-to-Nechay’. After the ceremony, guests received a small 767-300 model airplane as a wedding favor with the inscription, ‘Love is in the Air,’ and a mock boarding pass to return home.

Who said this…

May 7, 2012 by June

“Oh, Miss O’Hara, I’ve told you I loved you. I think you’re the most beautiful girl in the world. And the sweetest, the dearest, I know that I couldn’t hope that you would love me, so clumsy and stupid, not nearly good enough for you. But if you could, if you could think of marrying me, I’d do anything in the world for you, just anything, I promise!”

Leahi Park Wedding…

Make it this beautiful…

A perfect day for a ceremony!

Leahi Park was a perfect place to be yesterday for an 830am wedding.  We were blessed with a light shower and then the moment the ceremony began, the sun peaked out and let its light shine though the white orchids that were sewn between the dangling crystals. Everything twinkled brightly as the bride and groom began their new day together.

Something Sparkly

Diamond engagement rings were popular with medieval Italians (1400′s) as they believed that the diamond was created from the “flames of Love.   Ancient Greeks believed the diamond reflected the flame of love, thinking them to be the teardrops of the gods.  Romans believed diamonds to have romantic powers, believing them to be spinters of falling stars that once tipped the arrows of Eros, the god of love.

Wedding Ring Trivia

April 13, 2012 by June

Did you know it is considered unlucky to ever wear a wedding ring on any other than the “medical finger,” the only finger that has direct contact with the heart ( the third finger)?  Courtship was significantly different in the past than it is today in that once romantic love was a kind of mating ritual that prepared the couple for the change from single existence to a shared one and all of the life alterations that go along with it.  In this way, circular rings were a symbol of fidelity and a symbol of trust between the two people, as well as a gift of precious eternity from God.

During the Victorian age in England, the wedding ring had even more of a symbolic and ritualistic position.  Young brides-mades at a wedding would take the wedding ring and press the wedding cake through it nine times.  This ensured that the unmarried virgin would meet her future love and be married within the year.
